MOPS  (Mothers of Preschoolers) is a grassroots movement that believes mums are world influencers and that better mums make a better world.  When we say pre-schoolers we mean from birth to Pre-Primary aged children. Motherhood is something to be celebrated but we also recognise that it can be enormously difficult and at times lonely.  It is said that it takes a village to raise a child and at Carey, we see MOPS as a way of helping to connect moms to that village and to provide mutual encouragement, support and a community to belong to.

MOPS is a non-denominational Christian organisation.  You do not need to be a churchgoer or from a specific denomination to join MOPS.  We welcome women from all faith or non-faith backgrounds and beliefs. The vision of MOPS is to see no mum alone – because better mums make a better world.

MOPS also believe that incubating hearts and giving, just-because-hugs can change the course of history. That’s why MOPS connect mums all over the world to a community of women, in their own neighbourhoods, who meet together to laugh, cry and embrace the journey of motherhood. MOPS groups are rallying women to be more honest, to feel more equipped and to find identity by journeying alongside one another.

What to expect

  • After settling our children into MOPS Kids (our children’s program), we have some morning tea and a chat. You might even find you get to finish a conversation and a cuppa while it’s still HOT!
  • Usually, a guest speaker will share their experience or expertise on a subject of interest to us. – Some of the topics we’ve covered in the last year include relationships, finding your child’s unique personality, photography, dressing for your body shape and much more!
  • We then break into groups to chat about the talk we’ve just listened to. This is where we get to know each other and hopefully where friendships start! It’s also a great opportunity to hear how other mothers tackle the job of raising kids!
  • Most weeks we finish off with a creative and fun activity. You don’t need to be “crafty” to enjoy MOPS – some of our activities have included making hampers for disadvantaged mums, and sending shoeboxes of gifts to kids in poor countries.

We are all Mums at MOPS so we totally get that you might be running in the door just in the nick of time with leftover toddler food in your hair and on your clothes. That’s okay, we probably will be too!!

2018 Theme

2018 will be our year of living Free Indeed! It will be the year we explore letting love be the loudest voice, being gutsy, and taking the first step.
