The Broader Community
Carey Church partners with other local churches and organisations for mission and is excited to see the people, resources and expertise God has drawn together, the future looks exciting.
We see a future where we will provide hope and compassion to some of the poorest and most oppressed people in the world – where we bring some of our capacity and expertise to work alongside others to support them in their work in education and with families.
We see a change in the cultural climate for communities around the world where a voice of hope and compassion is increasing, and cynicism, fear and oppression is decreasing. We plan to build our capacity to enable us to be part of this transforming vision.

Fresh Women's Conference | BCWA | 21st July
What if you discovered you have been entrusted with an invisible, invincible, and incorruptible weapon?
WOULD YOU USE IT?
If ever there was a time for women to be armed, it’s now. Worldwide, women are the targets of prejudice, sex trafficking, abuse, and even gendercide. The truth is the enemy makes women a target because he fears what will happen if they rise up and stand in strength and begin wielding God’s Word with power and authority.
It’s time women become the heroes God created them to be and stand—courageous, discerning, forgiving, and wise.

Ancient Wisdom, Modern World | VOSE Conference | 28 & 29 August
In a time marked by round-the-clock pressure, fatigue, and burnout, what does ancient wisdom have to offer us? In a time marked by endless complexity and the need for decisive action, what might we learn from Israel’s wisdom literature?
We invite you to take an intentional break from your bustle to join us, as renowned Old Testament scholar Dr Tremper Longman III (USA) brings the timeless insights and wisdom of these ancient writers to life. Our hope is that your life and ministry will be renewed and refocused as we engage afresh the ancient wisdom found in scripture.
Tremper Longman, recently retired from Westmont College in California, is a Distinguished Scholar and Professor Emeritus of Biblical Studies, and author of numerous books. Tremper has the rare gift of being able to communicate to both academic and popular audiences. He has written scholarly commentaries on Job, Psalms, Ecclesiastes and Daniel, as well as the popular How to Read… series on Genesis, Exodus, Job, Psalms and Proverbs.
Tremper will give three Conference lectures on “Preaching the Wisdom Literature” plus an additional public lecture on the Tuesday evening entitled, “God Loves Sex: What the Song of Songs has to Say in a Sex-Crazed Culture.” This two-day Conference is appropriate for pastors, ministers, students and anyone interested in Scripture and ministry, and especially, the Wisdom Literature of the Bible (Job, Proverbs, Ecclesiastes, Song of Songs, etc.).
In addition to Tremper’s lectures, there is also a programme of elective sessions with papers from members of the Vose faculty, and other specialists from around Perth, Australia, and overseas. Registration includes morning and afternoon tea and lunch on both days. Registration for the Tuesday evening lecture will include a light supper.

Hike for Bibles on the Bibbulmun Track | 22-25 SEPT 2018
Hike for Bibles on the
22 – 25 September 2018
Bible Society would like to ask your help in promoting our annual Bibbulmun Track Hike Event.
This four day hike is a popular event and this year will take place from 22nd to 25th September 2018. Trekking with friends, old and new, through some spectacular scenery is an enjoyable way to help raise money through sponsorship to help place Bibles into the hands of those in need. This year, the hikers will be raising funds to provide Bibles for Australia’s chaplains in our hospitals, prisons, emergency services and defence forces.
Bible Society would greatly appreciate it if you, or someone in your church, would display the attached poster on your church notice board, as well as photocopy and distribute the attached registration form to your congregation and friends. If at all possible a notice in your weekly bulletin informing people of the event would also be appreciated and help ensure as many people as possible are made aware of it. Bible Society, along with those who will receive Bibles through your generous help, would like to say thank you in advance for your assistance and wish you God’s blessings.
